The façade of FEP main building began to be intervened with the removal of the concrete slabs that will be replaced. The rest will be rehabilitated.
The new structures for the chairs have already begun to be built in the auditorium 215 which will have fewer but bigger seats and more circulation space.
The new window frames have already begun to be renovated and placed in the Library. Afterward, the painting will be done in black.
The professor’s offices have already begun to be changed through painting and rehabilitation.
The radiators recovery and painting works are already underway. The radiators will be painted in their original color.
The vanes of the balconies of the canteen’s facade are already being recovered.
The works to prepare the infrastructures for the air conditioning equipment of the Noble Hall are already underway.
The cleaning of the exterior walls is in progress. This is an operation that precedes the repair of the concrete.
Thanks to AEFEP, the bar has now a terrace that allows FEP’s community to enjoy the good weather.
Some parts of the floor in the lobby were removed to replace the hidden pipes.
One of the most important components of the work in progress is the replacement of all the infrastructures (electrical, computer, water, heating and ventilation). It is a replacement that is essential to ensure the proper functioning of the school. The replacement of these networks has already begun on the 3rd floor.
All the cabins have been demolished to allow the reconstruction of the toilets.
The metal structure that supported the room 260 has already been dismantled.
After the removal of the partition walls, which allowed to accommodate in these spaces the AEFEP, Skills Academy, FEP Junior Consulting and e-Copy, the rooms 163 and 165 return to their previous configuration.
After the hooves, the chairs were also removed. The auditoriums are ready to receive the new infrastructures.
The chairs and tables of all the auditoriums are being removed. This is probably the most visible face of the building rehabilitation. At the end of the renovation, the auditoriums will be unrecognizable and much more functional and comfortable.
The work started by the demolition of partitions walls of offices, services, and student spaces, which have been installed over time. Also, the sanitary facilities and auditoriums will be demolished and subsequently renovated.
Almost all of the furniture and equipment has already been removed from the building. Some spaces are unrecognizable. This is the case of the Grand Hall.
After the Christmas holidays, academic activities restarted, now in the temporary facilities.
After months of planning, the move progresses as planned. The building is empty. This process of moving will be repeated a year from now.
The Tapestry that occupied one of the walls of the Scientific Council room has already been removed. The Tapestry, by Master Júlio Resende, will be followed for restoration during the period of works.
For reasons of works and relocation of facilities, the access to FEP’s main building will be forbidden on December 15.
The tribute to Professor António Almodovar (1953-2016) was the last event to be held in the main building of FEP before the temporary closing of the facilities. The Library is already open in the post-graduation building (room 505). Due to the limited space, there is only a small reading space, however, all services are available.
Today, the first monoblocs began to be installed in the parking lot. The 238 monoblocks will hold the major part of the school’s activity during the works.
The Library closed today in order to move to the post-graduation building. During the work, there will be a reading space and the books of frequent consultation will be available. The remaining books will be transferred to a leased warehouse.
The project was developed by the School of Architecture of the University of Porto (CEFA-UP) and the works were assigned to the companies Norcep – Construções, SA and Alberto Couto Alves, SA. The supervision of the works is ensured by CNEC.
The parking lot next to Rua Dr. Roberto Frias was delivered today to the contractors for the installation of the temporary facilities.
The works will begin five years after the signature of the agreement between the Rectory, the School of Economics and Management and the School of Architecture regarding the preparation of the rehabilitation project.
